Thermax & Fortescue Plans to Explore GH2 Projects

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Thermax Limited and Fortescue Future Industries (FFI) (Thermax & Fortescue) has been linked to explore possibilities for green hydrogen projects in India, including new manufacturing facilities.

Thermax and FFI’s partnership seeks to create fully integrated green hydrogen projects for Indian industrial and commercial clients. In India, hard-to-abate industries like steel, fertilisers, and refineries would benefit from the industrial-scale production of green hydrogen.

The Agreement also mentions the parties’ potential cooperation in creating new production facilities to help green energy initiatives in India. To establish any new industrial capacity, the Performance Linked Incentive (PLI) plan, under India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission, may be used.

Electrolysers and their parts may also be exported worldwide. Fortescue Future Industries’ experience in handling large-scale projects in its iron ore sector provides a solid foundation for advancing into green hydrogen manufacturing projects.

Thermax will contribute its extensive supply chain and EPC experience to the partnership.
